Our New Head Teacher First of all I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mrs Watson, currently our Deputy Head Teacher, on being appointed as the new Head Teacher of Blaydon West. The interviews took place in front of a panel of Governors and representatives from the Local Authority. I have every confidence that Mrs Watson will work tirelessly to continue the hard work that has already taken place to make us all proud to be part of the Blaydon West community in the 21st Century. Well done Mrs Watson!

GOODBYE TO MRS McGUIRE I am sure you will all agree with me that this is a sad day for Blaydon West Primary School. Mrs McGuire is leaving us today to take up her new post at Kells Lane Primary School in September. Mrs McGuire has played a huge part in Blaydon West life since starting here six years ago. I know many children and parents will have very fond memories of Mrs McGuire, who has given our Reception children the best start they could ever have in school. We will miss you Mrs McGuire but we all wish you well in your new job!

REMINDER School closes at 3.20pm today for the summer break. School re-opens at 8.55am on Tuesday, 7th September. Can I please take this opportunity to remind parents of the importance of children arriving in school on time. Failure to arrive on time not only disrupts children’s learning but also prevents other members of staff in school from carrying out their duties. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

YEAR 6 LEAVERS’ TREAT—MICHELANGELO’S We are really sad to lose our Year 6 children who will be transferring to various secondary schools in September. As a final goodbye we have taken the children to Michelangelo’s for an Italian meal. I am sure they will all come back at some point to pay us a visit! We wish them all the best for the future.
