FIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE TO LET YOU KNOW ABOUT…. an exciting project our Nursery children are involved in. The Nursery have received 12 eggs from Bill Quay Farm as part of their hatching programme. This will help the children learn about the life cycle of chickens/hens. We have been given a hatching date of 23rd March. Hopefully, we will see some chicks! The chicks will be kept in school until 31st March when they will be returned to Bill Quay Farm. The Nursery children will enjoy a day at Bill Quay Farm on that date where they will enjoy seeing the other animals that live on the farm. Further information regarding the trip will be passed onto parents nearer the date.

CONSTRUCTION TALK We had a visit from Sean McNicolls who is working on the new Medical and Leisure facilities on Shibdon Road. Mr McNicolls talked to the children about the new leisure facilities and medical centre. The children learned about safety on building sites and what jobs are available in the construction industry. The children have been invited to take part in a competition to design a poster. Exhibits will be chosen to be displayed on hoardings next to the site!

IMPROVED ATTENDANCE As you are aware one of our targets this year is to improve our attendance. As part of this initiative we invited a group of parents into school this morning to celebrate their child’s improved attendance. At the beginning of next term we will be holding an assembly for children with 100% attendance. Parents will also be invited to this assembly. I would like to congratulate all of the children who received a certificate this morning. Many thanks to all of the parents who have tried so hard to improve our school attendance.
